Robert L. Weddingย
California, MD— On August 14, St. Mary’s Countyย Sheriff’s Office Deputy Molitor responded to Three Notch Road in California for a check of welfare.
When Molitor arrivedย on the scene he observed the defendant, Robert L. Wedding, 26 of California sitting in the driver’s seat of a Chevrolet Malibu.
Contact was made with Wedding and the owner of the vehicle, Trayquanย M. Lee, who was sitting in the front passenger seat. Wedding was smoking and Lee appeared to have been asleep under a blanket.
Wedding advised he was driving Lee’s vehicle because Lee did not possess a valid driver’s license. Trooper Coppedge of the Maryland State Police and Deputy Muschette of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office observed a “syringe on the floorboard directly behind the driver’s seat in plain view,” according to charging documents.
Wedding and Lee were taken out of a vehicle and a search was conducted. During the search, Molitor located a blue capsule, which contained trace amounts of an off white powdery substance inside of it, “believed to have been heroin, and a metal spoon was burned on the bottom of it,” according to charging documents.ย
The capsule and spoon were located inย between the middle console and driver’s seat. Lee provided additional information about Wedding going into a residence at some point last night but stated he did not know what the defendant obtained.
When Wedding was asked on scene he admitted to going inside of a
residence, “hesitated and began denying the CDS and paraphernalia located were his,” according to charging documents.ย
Wedding advised that the three capsules found on him were vitamins. Wedding claimed he was prescribed the Adderall but could not provide any proof or a doctor’s name to contact.
Weddingย was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention, where he was charged with two counts of CDS possession not marijuana, and CDS possession of paraphernalia.ย
At this time Wedding does not have a scheduled court appearance. Wedding faces a maximum jail sentence of eight years and/or a maximum fine of $55,000.ย
