On July 12 at 4:30 p.m., officers responded to the area of Cobb Island Road near High Avenue in Cobb Island for the report of suspicious activity.
According to two 11-year-old girls, they were riding their bikes near the Cobb Island Baptist Church when a white van approached. The driver of the van slowed down and asked the girls if they would help him find his dog; he even offered to put their bicycles in the back of the van.
The girls told the man “no” and rode their bikes home and told a parent. The girls’ parents checked with people in the community to see if anyone knew the man and later reported the incident after determining no one could verify the man’s identity.
The driver of the van is described as an older white male with gray hair – long enough that it got in his eyes – and a gray moustache that curled up on either side. He was wearing a green t-shirt with black letters.
The van had no windows or markings. Anyone with information is asked to call the Charles County Sheriff’s Office at (301) 932-2222. PFC. D. Raby is investigating.
