Maryland State Fire Marshall’s Bomb Squad came to the assistance of the Charles County Sheriff’s Office for the
investigation of a suspected bomb at the Speedy Clean Car Wash located at 1320 Smallwood Drive West in Waldorf.
Operators of the car wash discovered a suspicious device outside the car wash on May 11 around 10:45 a.m., when bomb technicians were called in. The Sheriff’s Office blocked off the area until the State Fire Marshall’s Bomb Squad arrived. The package was disrupted in place by a robot. The package was determined to be a device used by local scavenger hunters and not hazardous.
No injuries were reported. The investigation continues.
