On Friday, May 08, 2015 at 11:10am, a suspicious package was delivered to the Maryland State Police Barrack in Leonardtown.ย
The package had originated from out of the country and was related to strange emails that had been sent in the weeks prior.ย A command post was established, and the Leonardtown Barrack was closed to the public.ย Appropriate personnel were notified, and Engine 11 from Leonardtown Volunteer Fire Department Company 1 responded as a safety precaution.
The Maryland State Fire Marshallโs Office Bomb Squad responded to the barrack and the package was x-rayed on the scene with a portable x-ray machine.ย The Bomb Squad opened the package and determined that there was no indication of explosives or other dangerous components.ย
The Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack reopened at 12:45 pm.ย The Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division has assumed the investigation.
