LA PLATA, Md. — A SUV veered off the road and struck a house in La Plata on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2025, sending one woman to the hospital and leaving behind visible structural damage.
The crash occurred around 3:05 p.m. in the 5900 block of Ripley Park Drive. The incident was first reported through OnStar, which indicated airbag deployment and alerted responders.
Emergency personnel from multiple area stations arrived within minutes and found a vehicle lodged against the home’s garage and the driver experiencing chest and leg pain. Officials at the scene said the woman, believed to be in her 50s, was conscious and alert when medics evaluated her. She was later transported by ambulance to UM Capital Region Medical Center for advanced care.
Crews reported minor structural damage to the residence, primarily in the garage area. Power to that section of the home was shut off as a precaution, and a county building inspector was requested to assess the safety of the structure.
No one inside the house was injured. The scene was declared under control within an hour, though investigators and safety personnel remained to monitor conditions.
The Charles County Sheriff’s Office continues its investigation.
