At approximately 7:05 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 22, the Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad Company 5 responded to an auto accident at Route 4 and Chaneyville Road in Owings.
When emergency units arrived on scene they discovered a serious accident stemming from a T-bone collision with a patient trapped in one of the crashed vehicles.
Dunkirk’s Squad 5 extricated the entrapped victim while a second crash victim was being treated. One patient was transported to Calvert Memorial with non-life threating injuries. The second victim signed a treatment of refusal.
The accident tied up the morning commute and bus traffic trying to deliver children to Northern High and Northern Middle schools on Chaneyville Road.
The accident remains under investigation.
