As kids get ready to head back to school in St. Maryโs County, many families, in these tough economic times, dread the cost of necessary school supplies. To lend a hand and offer the community a fun summer event the Tapโs Community Brotherhood group held its annual back-to-school picnic Saturday, August 7.
Nicolet Park was packed with kids of all ages, out to enjoy free admission to the Sprayground, free lunch and outdoor fun. TCB handed out age-appropriate backpacks filled with school supplies and the Bay District Volunteer Fire Department stopped by to set up the ultimate sprinkler.
Trivia winners went home with Ritaโs gift certificates and the great mix of upbeat music kept people dancing and the party atmosphere going.
TCB Board of Directorโs President Alex David told TheBAYNET.com he was happy to have such a great turn out. โThe picnic is always a good time because the crowd is always really excited for it, and it is a great way to put the money we have raised back into the community,โ he said.
TCBโs events are becoming a hot ticket, one mother attending with her three school-aged children said her family looks forward to the picnic every year, adding, โThe TCB folks are just so nice and this is a really great thing for the kids.โ
