INDIAN HEAD, Md. – A 19-year-old male and his father were both injured Friday afternoon, June 20, 2025, after being bitten by a foster pit bull at a residence on Elder Place in Indian Head.
The teen reportedly suffered a serious bite to the hand “down to the bone” and required immediate medical attention. His father was also bitten while attempting to intervene.
Charles County emergency dispatchers received the 911 call shortly after 2 p.m. Medics arriving on scene found the dog and both victims inside the home. Bleeding control instructions were provided by dispatchers before first responders arrived.
Due to the severity of the teen’s injury, he was flown by Maryland State Police Trooper 2 helicopter to Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore for specialized care. His father, who sustained less severe wounds, was taken to the same hospital by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.
The dog was identified as a foster animal, but officials have not released information regarding its vaccination history or whether animal control will take further action.
