On May 25 at 10:56 p.m., officers responded to Northgate Place in Waldorf for the report of suspicious people near a wooded area. When officers arrived, they observed a subject attempting to leave in a car. Officers stopped the subject, Jinhan Kim, 18 of Waldorf, and learned he had just broken into Thomas Stone High School at 3785 Leonardtown Road in Waldorf to commit a โ€œsenior prank.โ€

Officers went to the school and discovered Jinhan entered the school through a window he unlocked earlier that day. Once inside, he emptied a bag full of crickets – about 150 โ€“ on the floor. Officers learned Jinhan ordered the crickets online.

After the burglary, Jinhan fled the school to his car which he parked on Northgate Place.

Jinhan was charged with burglary and possession of burglary tools after officers found a screwdriver in his pocket. Two other people were with the suspect but the extent of their involvement is under investigation.

Officer Gilroy is investigating.
