Unique Divine Keemer, flanked by Venus and Jamal King of Strong World Entertainment, signed a contract with the Michigan-based entertainment company Saturday, Sept. 10.

Port Republic, MD –ย A Calvert County teen who first drew attention to her talents with an anti-bullying song four years ago is about to embark on a recording career. On Saturday, Sept. 10, Unique Divine Keemer, a Port Republic resident and Calvert High School senior, formally signed with Strong World Entertainment, a Michigan-based enterprise headed by the husband and wife team of Michael and Tanya Trotter.

The Trotters are musical artists themselves, currently recording as โ€œWar and Treaty.โ€

โ€œThey [Trotters] are very good at finding talent,โ€ said Jamal King, Strong World Entertainmentโ€™s director of Sales and Distribution, who was in Calvert County for the contract signing.

โ€œWeโ€™ve been following her for a long time,โ€ Michael Trotter told The BayNet during a telephone interview. Trotter compared Keemerโ€™s talent to that of Mahalia Jackson, the iconic American Gospel singer, who among other accomplishments, sang at John F. Kennedyโ€™s inauguration in 1961 and the March on Washington in 1963.

โ€œWe did a little bit of vocal training with her,โ€ said Trotter. โ€œWeโ€™re kind of bringing back the 1950s to 1970s sounds to fit Uniqueโ€™s talent. Weโ€™re going to get started with her in 2017.โ€

โ€œI plan to be a professional singer but I also plan to go to college,โ€ said Keemer, who added her recording and training with Strong World Entertainment will be โ€œmore on weekends so it doesnโ€™t interfere with school.โ€

Keemer said she is hoping to enroll in the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) after she graduates from high school. The academy has campuses in New York and Los Angeles.
