On Friday, October 7, 2005 at 10:05 am TFC A. Rossignol responded to Mattingly’s Food Store, Leonardtown, for a reported theft.
Investigation revealed that a white male was sitting in the victims vehicle. As the victim was approaching the suspect, later identified as Edward Brian Harris, 36, of Mechanicsville, he exited the vehicle.
When confronted Harris denied being in the vehicle and left the scene.
The victim advised that two dollar bills that had been in the center console were now located on the seat.
A search of the area was conducted by Maryland State Police and St. Mary’s County Deputies.
The suspect was located at St. Mary’s Hospital and returned to Mattingly’s for positive identification by the victim and witnesses.
Mr. Harris was arrested and charged with theft. He was taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
