On Wednesday, May 30 at 10:20 a.m., Trooper C. Evans initiated a traffic stop on a white Pontiac at Route 237 at Longfield Blvd. in California for a seat belt violation.
Contact was made with the driver, Andrew Mark Hamlet, 25, of Mechanicsville and the passenger, Audrey Rose Tharpe, 21, of Great Mills. Drug paraphernalia with burnt cocaine residue was observed in plain view.
Hamlet and Tharpe were arrested for possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia. A search incident to arrest revealed an aluminum Budweiser can with burnt cocaine residue under the driverโs seat.
Both Hamlet and Tharpe were transported to the St. Maryโs County Detention Center.
