WALDORF, Md. — We are receiving reports of a motor vehicle crash this evening involving multiple emergency medical personnel.

At approximately 8:30 p.m. on January 13, first responders were called to the scene of a crash in the area of Crain Highway and Smallwood Drive. Reports indicated that an ambulance had been involved in the crash with another vehicle, and that three patients had been injured.

Upon arrival, crews discovered two of the patients with non-life-threatening injuries, and a third patient who was trapped inside the ambulance.

That individual was extricated in under 15 minutes from the ambulance. That individual, who was identified as a pregnant 29-year-old female paramedic, was transported to a nearby trauma center by ambulance.

The two other patients, both of which are Charles County career EMS personnel, were transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.

The State Highway Administration was requested to the scene with sandbags soon after to assist with fluid clean-up off the roadway.

Prior to the accident, the ambulance had been in the process of responding to a medical emergency call off of Saltbush Court.
