At 6:37 a.m. on Saturday, March 31, Pathways Group Home in Lexington Park was the site of a serious fire.

The fire was reported by a neighbor and took thirty firefighters half an hour to get the flames under control.

Three women, aged 28, 37, and 46 were able to escape from the burning group home without injury. They have been taken in by another group home.

The damage to the building is estimated at $100,000, with an additional loss of $50,000 worth of contents.

Maryland State Fire Marshal reported the cause of fire to be accidental, and due to an electrical malfunction.
