LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — A Lexington Park woman was arrested after allegedly forcing her way into a residence and causing a disturbance, according to court documents from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office.

Terrie Lynn Carter, 57, was taken into custody on Feb. 26, 2025, after authorities responded to a burglary in progress at a residence on Carter Lane.

According to the statement of probable cause, Carter had been living in her vehicle in the victims’ yard for approximately three days without permission. On the night of Feb. 26, she reportedly began blaring her car horn and shouting at the residents from outside.

The situation escalated when Carter exited her vehicle and began pounding on the residence’s door, prompting the homeowners to contact authorities. Witnesses stated that Carter forced open the door, fell inside the residence, and then grabbed at one of the victims’ feet while screaming.

Responding deputies took Carter into custody without further incident. She was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and has been charged with third-degree burglary, which carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison, and disorderly conduct, punishable by up to 60 days in jail and/or a $500 fine if convicted.

Following a bail review on Feb. 28, Judge Karen Christy Holt Chesser ordered Carter to be held without bond. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on March 31, 2025, in St. Mary’s County District Court.

This is a developing case. Updates will be provided as more details emerge.

  1. It’s great to be seeing more and more of these people held accountable and held without bond. I’m sure she will get a slap on the wrist in court. Just thankful we aren’t seeing catch and release as much as it was. Keep it up! Stop releasing people on bonds!

  2. What comes around goes around she is not a nice person treating everyone like dirt

  3. She always thought she was better than everybody and now her son won’t even take her in she is better than nobody

  4. You should stop jumping to conclusions and making things worse. You can see she needs help. Is she getting the help she needs, is anyone helping her, no, they rather talk about her. You know God doesn’t like ugly.

  5. I don’t want to add to the fire but all this woman does is try to make others’ lives miserable maybe this will wake her up and she can be a better person.
