The Enclave apartments – File photo 2017

SILVER SPRING, Md. — A 2-year-old boy is recovering after falling from the 15th floor of a high-rise apartment building in Montgomery County on Thursday, May 15, in an incident authorities are continuing to investigate.

At approximately 2:11 p.m., officers from the 3rd District and Montgomery County Fire & Rescue personnel responded to the 11200 block of Oak Leaf Drive for a report of a child who had fallen from a balcony at the Enclave Apartments.

First responders found the child conscious after reportedly landing in a landscaped area filled with bushes. He was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, including a broken arm.

Authorities confirmed that adults were present in the apartment at the time of the fall. The balcony is enclosed with glass panels rather than traditional railings. No criminal charges have been filed, and the investigation remains active.

Additional information may be released as it becomes available.
