ESSEX, Md. – October 26th, 2024 the Maryland Department of State Police confirmed that Lieutenant Duane Hill, currently assigned to the Human Resources Division, was arrested for suspected impaired driving following a two-vehicle crash in the early morning.
As a result of the charges placed against him, the Maryland State Police immediately placed Lieutenant Hill on administrative leave, where he is suspended with pay.
Shortly after 1 a.m., troopers from the Maryland State Police Golden Ring Barrack responded to the area of northbound Interstate 83, near Ruxton Road for a report of a two-vehicle crash.
According to a preliminary investigation, Hill, who was off-duty and operating a privately owned vehicle, was traveling north on I-83 when he struck another vehicle.
No injuries were reported at the scene.
He has been with the Department for 19 years and 11 months.

Wow so close to 20 years smh
Shame they can’t arrest their Trooper who arrested me with “cause” on a completely made-up accusation that was dropped by the States Attorney 2 months later because they couldn’t drum up any fake evidence.
90% of cops are garbage.
unrelated, but i will say 1 time, on my way to church no less, I was stopped. I made an innocent comment to the officer that he was out of his district and lo and behold, he called another officer onto the scene who gave me a ticket. Unnecessary ticket. And the police have given me no reason to drop it.
Sad to see this. LEO’s should be held to the same standard as all drivers. Since he was off duty in his private vehicle, he should get the same sentence as a normal drunk driver if found guilty. As for his status as a sworn LEO, MSP should take a hard look at him.
