Upper Marlboro Md. —ย On November 5 at 6:20 a.m., members of the Maryland State Police Forestville Barrack were responding to a single vehicle collision on the inner loop of I-495 and Maryland Rt. 4, Upper Marlboro, Prince Georgeโ€™s County, Maryland.

Trooper Jasmine Ingram arrived at the scene and observed that a motorist had left the roadway and struck the guardrail.ย ย  Prior to exiting her vehicle which was on the left shoulder, a Toyota Corolla passenger vehicle was approaching the scene of the accident.ย  The Toyota Corolla left the roadway and struck Trooper Ingramโ€™s vehicle.

As a result of the collision, Trooper Ingram was transported by ambulance to the Prince Georgeโ€™s Hospital Center for medical evaluation.ย  Trooper Ingram is being evaluated and in stable condition with no life threatening injuries.

The operated of the Toyota Corolla was identified as Karhonda West, 37 years old, of the State of Florida. West did not request medical attention at the scene of the collision.

The crash is still being investigated however alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in this collision. Charges are pending at this time.

The initial traffic collision that Trooper Ingram was responding to involved no injuries to the operator.ย  This collision was investigated by other members of the Maryland State Police Forestville Barrack.

MDOT State Highway Administration personnel responded to the scene to close lanes as needed for scene safety, rescue and investigation.ย  All lanes of I-495 were reopened.
