PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — Two Lusby men are facing charges following a traffic stop in Prince Frederick that led to the discovery of a loaded handgun and suspected prescription medication, according to court documents.
Jason Joseph Baldwin, 22, was identified as the driver of the vehicle, while Javiyon Marquise Buck, 20, was a passenger.
The incident began around 1:17 p.m. on April 24, 2026, when a deputy observed a gray Chevrolet Trailblazer traveling through the Silverwood Farms neighborhood and initiated a traffic stop after the vehicle failed to signal and continued driving in an unusual manner.
Deputies followed the vehicle as it exited the neighborhood and eventually stopped it in the Bank of America parking lot on Main Street in Prince Frederick.
During the stop, deputies noted suspicious behavior from the occupants and requested assistance from a K-9 unit. The K-9 alerted to the presence of controlled dangerous substances inside the vehicle.
Further investigation led to the discovery of a crossbody bag containing a loaded .40 caliber handgun, along with ammunition and a magazine. Authorities also located a prescription bottle containing promethazine syrup with an altered label.
According to charging documents, both individuals denied ownership of the firearm.
Baldwin was charged with handgun-related offenses and altering or removing a prescription label.
Buck was additionally charged with possession of a firearm by a minor.
Both were taken into custody and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center.
Baldwin was initially held without bond before being released on a $5,000 percentage bond following a bond review. Buck was also initially held without bond and later released on an unsecured personal bond of $5,000.
A hearing is set for June 5, 2026, in Calvert District Court.
