WALDORF, Md. — Two Temple Hills residents are facing felony theft charges after being accused of stealing more than $1,500 worth of merchandise from a department store in Waldorf, according to court documents.

Melissa Nazareth Lozano-Rodriguez, 21, of Temple Hills, and Carlos Alberto Mondragon-Guevara, 48, also of Temple Hills, were each charged with theft between $1,500 and under $25,000 in connection with an incident reported Feb. 14, 2026, at Macy’s located at 11100 Mall Circle in Waldorf.

According to charging documents, officers responded to the store at approximately 8:03 p.m. for a reported theft in progress. Loss prevention personnel advised that both individuals were observed through live security cameras selecting clothing items, removing price tags and concealing the merchandise inside bags.

Investigators reported the suspects bypassed all final points of sale without paying and attempted to leave the store. Both were stopped by store personnel and escorted to the loss prevention office.

Court records indicate the concealed merchandise totaled $1,542.08 in value and was recovered from bags in their possession.

Lozano-Rodriguez was identified through a Honduran passport and personal information she provided to officers. Mondragon-Guevara was identified through an El Salvador passport and information confirmed through the photographed identification document.

Both defendants were released on their own recognizance Feb. 15 following initial court proceedings.

Lozano-Rodriguez is scheduled for a trial officer scheduling hearing March 27, 2026, in Charles County District Court. Mondragon-Guevara is scheduled for trial April 1, 2026, in the same court.

  1. Couldn’t help but notice they use the same hair colorist.

Disappointing that they were both released without bond.
