On November 10, 2013 at 1:38 A.M. patrol units responded to the Ruby Tuesday Restaurant parking lot for the report of an armed robbery. The manager of the restaurant advised he was approached by two suspects armed with firearms and wearing ski masks as he entered his vehicle.
The suspects demanded the victim hand over cash and his cell phone. The victim complied and the suspects fled on foot. CID was contacted and assumed the investigation.
Two suspects were developed in the case. On November 22, 2013 detectives from The St. Mary’s County Criminal Investigations Division, assisted by the Calvert County Special Operations Team and the Calvert County Criminal Investigations Team, executed three search and seizure warrants, one in California, Maryland and two in Dunkirk, Md.
During the execution of search warrants the two identified suspects, Duane T. Jones, age 24 of Dunkirk, Maryland and Jamar A. Brown, age 23 of Lusby, Maryland were taken into custody without incident. Both were transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and charged with Armed Robbery, Robbery, Assault 1st Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, Firearm Use during Commission of a Felony and Theft less than $1,000.
Jones and Brown are currently pending a bond hearing before the District Court Commissioner.
