Success By 6, the early childhood initiative of the United Way of Calvert County is pleased to introduce Brian Bucci of PNC Bank as the new chair for the community impact initiative.ย Brian has a passion for early childhood and is looking forward to engaging like-minded community leaders who will together create strategies to improve the lives of our youngest population, children ages 0 to 6.ย Understanding that investing in early childhood is crucial to the success of our communityโs children, Brian is setting forth an agenda to explore and mobilize effective resources that bring about lasting change.ย
The proud father of two young boys, Brian is the Commercial Sales Manager and Senior Vice President for PNC Bank.ย His company is investing $100 million over a 10-year period to help prepare children from birth to age five for success in school, aligning perfectly with the mission of Success By 6.ย โI am excited about my new role as Chair,โ says Bucci, โas it allows me to enhance the great initiatives of my employer, PNC Bank and its Grow Up Great Program.ย ย ย
PNC’s Grow Up Great Program has committed both human and financial resources to the purpose of preparing young children for school and life.โย ย The national program is believed to be the most comprehensive corporate-based school readiness programs in the nation.ย United Wayโs Success By 6 has partnered with PNCโs Grow Up Great program, bringing their Mobile Learning Adventure, an amazing educational kiosk that travels from city to city, to the initiativeโs popular Family Fun Fests in the county for the past two years.
Since 1999, Success By 6 has focused on ensuring that young children in Calvert County develop the emotional, social, cognitive and physical capacities and skills they need to achieve well being and to enter school ready to learn.ย The critical connections and โwiringโ within a childโs brain that determine an individual’s emotional, social, and intellectual make-up develop between birth and three years old.ย Child development studies clearly show the impact of this early development on later success in school and in life.ย Working collaboratively with local business leaders and community agencies and organizations, Success By 6 promotes these positive outcomes for young children by educating parents and the community about the importance of these early years.ย
