A written threat was discovered in a bathroom during the regular school hours. The finding was taken very seriously and for our students’ safety, we implemented our school safety protocols, immediately evacuated the school buildings, and contacted the local law enforcement authorities and the Archdiocese of Washington Catholic Schools Office.
Authorities performed a thorough search of the school building and grounds and found nothing unusual. No one was injured. All students were safely dismissed to their parents. The authorities have given clearance for the staff and students to return to the school tomorrow.
UPDATE: 6/4 – 8:30pm
On June 4, 2013 at approximately 2:00 p.m., the Emergency Communications Center (ECC) was contacted by school officials at the St. Johns School in Hollywood, Maryland. A written bomb threat had been located within the school. School officials immediately contacted law enforcement, evacuated the school and quickly notified parents. Upon arriving on scene, officers and a bomb detecting K-9 thoroughly checked the school. Nothing suspicious was located during the search.
Detectives with the Bureau of Criminal Investigations and Crime Lab Technicians promptly responded and assumed the investigation. School officials at the St. Johns School are fully cooperating with detectives to quickly resolve the incident. At no time does it appear any students at the school were in danger.
