Update:
On November 18, 2013 at approximately 7:55PM deputies responded to the area of Three Notch Road and New Market Turner Road for the report of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian. Upon arriving on the scene, deputies found a Ford F-150 on the shoulder of the roadway and a pedestrian lying in the roadway being treated by Emergency Medical Personnel. The pedestrian succumbed to his injuries while on scene and the request for reconstruction was made. Sheriff’s Office Collision Reconstruction Team Members responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.
Preliminary investigation revealed Roland Philip Tucker, 52 of Mechanicsville, was attempting to cross the southbound lanes of Three Notch Road just south of New Market Turner Road. Tucker failed to yield the right of way and entered the path of a 2011 Ford F-150 operated by Paul Downs, of California. Tucker sustained life threatening injuries and succumbed to his injuries on the scene. No other injuries were reported. At this time alcohol, drugs, and speed are not considered to be factors in the collision.

Emergency crews responded to Three Notch Road in New Market at 7:56 for a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian.
Once crews were on scene they found one person laying in the roadway. A helo was requested for the patient but was cancelled minutes later after CPR was unsuccessful.
State highway is in route to the scene for road closure and reconstruction.
