UPDATE 12/12/2011 POLICE RELEASE:
On December 9, 2011 at approximately 6:09 AM deputies responded to a motor vehicle collision. Preliminary investigation reveals a 2009 Scion XD, being operated by Lorenza Best (85), of Camp Springs, was traveling south on Patuxent Beach Road in the area of North Patuxent Beach Road in California, Maryland. Best’s vehicle crossed the center line for an unknown reason and struck a northbound 1999 Ford Explorer operated by Lyndon Jack (24), of LexingtonPark. Jack was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital. Best was also transported to St. Mary’s Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Alcohol and speed are not believed to be contributing factors in the collision.
The St. Mary’s CountySheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. At this time, alcohol and speed do not appear to be contributing factors in the crash. Traffic is now flowing at a normal pace.
At 6:10AM a call went out reporting a two vehicle accident near Patuxent Beach Road in California, MD There has been a fatality. Traffic is being detoured. Expect delays. A full release of information will be up later today.
