Update:
On October 5 at 9:44 a.m. units from the Calvert County Sheriffโs Office responded to Md. Rt. 231 at Hallowing Point Park for the report of a serious motor vehicle crash.ย
DFC W. Wells determined that a 2005 Jeep Liberty being driven by Karen Ann Yarbrough Boyce, 39 of Barstow, had been traveling east on Md. 231 toward Prince Frederick and, for unknown reasons, crossed into oncoming westbound traffic.ย Boyceโs vehicle traveled into the path of an eighteen-wheel truck that had been going westbound.
Boyce was determined to be at fault.ย She was flown by Trooper 7 to Prince Georgeโs Hospital Center Shock Trauma Unit in Cheverly for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.ย The driver of the truck was not injured.ย A charge against Boyce of driving while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs is pending toxicology results.ย Additional charges are forthcoming.

UPDATE as of 12:50 p.m.- Route 231 is open in all directions. Traffic is moving slow due to an earlier motor vehicle crash. Allow for extra time.
The Calvert County Sheriffโs Office reported a head-on collision Saturday morning, Oct. 5 on Route 231 near the entrance to Hallowing Point Park in Barstow. According to Captain Steve Jones, a vehicle operated by an unidentified woman crossed the center line and collided head-on with a tractor-trailer truck. The woman has been flown to a Washington, DC-area hospital. Jones said her injuries do not appear to be life-threatening. Investigators said the woman appears to have been under the influence of drugs and the time and suspected drugs were located in her vehicle. Jones said charges are pending against the woman. The truck driver was not injured. The park is normally busy Saturday mornings with youth sports activities.
