On Monday, April 04, 2011, at approximately 8:25 pm, the Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad along with Huntingtown VFD & Rescue Squad responded to an auto accident at Route 4 North and Town Center Blvd for a reported serious accident.

Involved in this accident was a Dunkirk VFD marked car and another vehicle.
ย 
There were two people known that were flown out for medical treatment, with one person from each vehicle.ย  Other injuries were unknown at the time of this report.ย  An additional ambulance from North Beach and the ALS Medical unit was also on the call.
ย 
The State Police and Calvert County Sheriffโ€™s departments are doing an investigation of the cause of the accident and that information is unknown at the time of this report.

MSP BARRACK “U” PRESS RELEASE:

On 4/4/11 at 8:25pm Troopers and Deputies responded to the intersection of Route 4 and Town Center Blvd. for a report of a serious traffic collision. Investigation revealed that a 2000 GMC Yukon registered to the Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Department being operated by Eric Holzberger, 38 of Dunkirk, was traveling north on Route 4 approaching a red traffic signal at Town Center Blvd. A 2000 Volvo S-80, operated by Christopher Garrison, 18 of Huntingtown, was traveling south on Route 4 approaching Town Center Blvd. The Volvo had a green arrow and was attempting to make a left turn onto Town Center Blvd. The GMC failed to stop for the red traffic signal and collided with the passenger side of the Volvo. Garrison and the passenger, Aron Morgan, 18 of Huntingtown, were flown by Park Police helicopter to P.G. Trauma Center with serious injuries. Holzberger was flown by Maryland State Police helicopter to Suburban Hospital with serious injuries.
