Caleb Bailey

Greenbelt, MD – A Charles County man who was served a federal indictment earlier this month on child pornography and weapons charges will remain in custody after a court hearing Thursday, May 26.

Federal court spokeswoman Marcia Murphy told The BayNet Caleb Bailey, 30, was ordered free on bond by Judge Charles B. Day. However, federal authorities announced during the hearing that they are contesting Bailey’s release.

The accused remains in federal custody to await a status hearing. Murphy said the date for that hearing has yet to be determined.

On April 26, Bailey was chosen by Fifth Congressional District Republican voters as a delegate committed to the presidential candidacy of Donald Trump at the party’s national convention in Cleveland this summer.

Bailey resigned from the Maryland GOP delegation after his indictment was made public.
