WASHINGTON – This weekend, U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen will commemorate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by participating in the Manna Food Center’s MLK, Jr. Service Weekend Food Drive at a local supermarket on Saturday and by speaking at the United Negro College Fund’s 36th annual MLK Birthday Celebration and the Charles County NAACP’s MLK Prayer Breakfast on Monday.

9:30 am – Van Hollen Participates in Manna Food Center’s MLK Jr. Service Weekend Food Drive

Senator Van Hollen will join volunteers to collect food at the Westfield Wheaton Giant store for the Manna Food Center. Manna serves approximately 3,200 families every month and sends home Smart Sacks weekly with 2,800 elementary students. Recently, the Manna Food Center has waived income requirements for federal workers to help Marylanders impacted by the government shutdown.
