Early Sunday evening, May 13, 2012, Bay District Volunteer Fire Department Company 3 and Lexington Park Rescue Squad Companies 38 and 39 were dispatched for a motor vehicle accident involving a single vehicle that struck two parked vehicles and a dumpster at the Oriental Market in Great Mills.
Ambulance 398, Engine 32 and Squad 3 arrived at 5:26pm with Ambulance 388 arriving at 5:28pm. While the firefighters stabilized the vehicle, EMS personnel began patient care.
It was determined the driver experienced a medical emergency as she was backing out of a parking space, stepped on the accelerator, struck one vehicle, then another and a dumpster before the vehicle stopped.
Ambulance 388 transported the driver and one other patient priority 3 to MedStar St. Maryโs Hospital at 5:40pm while other units returned to quarters.
