The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single-vehicle accident on Plum Point Road just east of Plum Point Elementary School in Huntingtown Thursday morning, March 13, shortly after 9:30 a.m. A sport utility vehicle left the roadway, struck and downed a utility pole. No information on possible injuries was available and the accident remains under investigation. Traffic was slowed for about an hour and crews from Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative responded immediately to the scene to repair the damaged pole. Personnel from the Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department were also dispatched to the crash site.
