At 7 a.m. Aug. 25, Second District Volunteer Firefighters responded to a vehicle and house fire on Locust Street, Piney Point.
Deputy State Fire Marshal W. Faron Taylor reports that mechanical failure in the engine area of a 1992 Chevy Lumina van caused a fire that spread to an adjacent dwelling, damaging the siding.
It took 10 firefighters 10 minutes to control the blaze.
The damage to the home was estimated at $2,000.
