Lexington Park, MD— On May 23, St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Austin Schultz responded to Columbus Drive in Lexington Park for an alleged assault in progress.ย
When Schultz arrived on the scene, he made contact with the victim and the defendantย who was identified as Antoine M. Watson, 29, of Bel Alton. Schultz and the victimย were in engaged in a conversation about the victim’s teenage son when Watson walked into the room and began interrupting their conversation.ย
Schultz detected a strong odor of an alcoholicย beverage emitting from Watson’s breath and noticed he had trouble understanding simple instructions.
According to charging documents, “When the victim left the residence, Watson advised he was assaulted by the victim earlier in the day. Watson did have a swollen upper lip, however, his account of how it occurred changed several times.”ย
Schultz then made further contact with the victim who denied assaulting Watson. According to the victim, “The two were arguing becauseย she (victim) asked that Watson move out,” according to charging documents.
During the argument, the victim claims that Watson threw her on the bed causingย a small laceration on her left wrist which Schultz observed.ย
Watson was then placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. Watson was charged with second-degree assault.ย
At this time Watson does not have a scheduled court date. His bail was set at $15,000. Watson faces a maximum jail sentence of 10 years and/or a maximum fine of $2,500.ย
