On August 20th, 2016 Tayman Roofing and volunteers from VQ-4 partnered with Patuxent Habitat for Humanity to do some roof repairs and gutter maintenance for Willie who lives in Mechanicsville, MD. The project was partially funded by Patuxent Habitat for Humanity’s Veteran Critical Home Repair Program. Tayman roofing discounted the roof repairs for our veteran making the payback fee nominal. Patuxent Habitat Board member George Zarecki led several volunteers from VQ-4 to help Willie and his wife Gladys with gutter maintenance. While we are extremely grateful for all the volunteers that have come out, we always need more donations, volunteers, and materials to sustain this wonderful program for our veterans.ย
The Patuxent Habitat for Humanity Veteran Critical Repair Program is designed to repair homes for military veterans and their families. The program will assist with repairs identified in Habitatโs Critical Home Repair guidelines that may vary from roof repair and structural wall repairs to installing wheel chair ramps and remodeling bathrooms to be easily used by veterans with disabilities. If you would like to donate or volunteer for veteran programs please call Laurie at 301-863-6227 or email laurie@patuxenthabitat.org for more information.

About Habitat for Humanity International
Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity has grown from a grassroots effort that began on a community farm in southern Georgia in 1976 to a global nonprofit housing organization in nearly 1,400 communities across the U.S. and in over 70 countries. People partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Through financial support, volunteering, or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves. Through shelter, we empower. To learn more, visit habitat.org.
