Virginia Ann Lewis Dunbar, 85, of Ridge, Maryland passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on June 16, 2026.
Born on September 28, 1940, in LeFlore, Oklahoma, Virginia was the daughter of the late Jack Theodore Lewis and Lorene Boyd Lewis. She moved to Southern Maryland in 1954 from Corpus Christi, Texas and made the community her home for more than seven decades.
On February 27, 1958, at Trinity Episcopal Church, Virginia married the love of her life, Alexander Beal Dunbar, Jr. Together they spent 66 wonderful years together rooted in love and family.
Virginia was a highly devoted daughter, mother and grandmother. In her younger years, she and Beal enjoyed spending time with their friends out on the water. Virginia dedicated much of her career to helping people as a Dental Assistant. Once Virginia and Beal started having a family, she devoted time to raising her sons, while persistently developing in her career. Later in life, Virginia enjoyed caring for her beloved grandchildren. She loved to bake brownies and banana bread with them, take them on walks on the beach, and take them to the Calvert Marine Museum. She always remembered to bring her camera to capture all the precious memories made.
Along with her husband and parents, Virginia is preceded in death by her son, Beal Alan Dunbar and her sister, Linda Porter.
She is survived by her son, Jeffery Lewis Dunbar (Deanna) of Ridge MD; and her cherished grandchildren, Kaylie Dunbar, Breanna Dunbar, and Zachary Dunbar.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, July 1st, 2026, from 10:00am – 11:00am at Trinity Episcopal Church, 47444 Trinity Church Road, St. Mary’s City, MD 20686 followed by Mass beginning at 11:00am. Interment will be at the church cemetery.
