The Maryland State Fire Marshalโ€™s Office is investigating a fire that caused considerable damage to a truck in Waldorf. The fire to the 1991 397 Peterbuilt was reported by a passerby early Sunday morning. The truck owned by James Tayman and Caroline Shymansky was parked on Kendall Street.

It took eight firefighters from the Hughesville Volunteer Fire Department five minutes to bring the blaze under control. Damage was estimated at $20,000. The Charles County Sheriffโ€™s Office also assisted in the investigation.

According to Deputy Fire Marshal Melissa Bean, โ€œThe fire started inside the interior of the truckโ€™s cab. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Witnesses or anyone with information about this fire is asked to call the Maryland State Fire Marshalโ€™s Office, Southern Region at (443)-550-6834.โ€
