
WALDORF, Md. – A Waldorf woman has been displaced from her home after a fire caused an estimated $80,000 worth of damage, Thursday afternoon.
On April 19 at 5:43 p.m., Stephanie Johnson discovered a fire in her home located on the 8900 block of Locust Street, Waldorf. Forty-five firefighters led by Accokeek Volunteer Fire Department responded to the two-story house fire and had the scene under control in 45 minutes.
Investigation revealed that Johnson was alerted by her alarm system to the fire on the first floor caused by a fallen candle.ย The first floor was in the middle of renovations at the time.ย The owner was displaced as a result of the fire and is being assisted by the American Red Cross.
