St. Mary’s County Homeless Program Needs Your Support!
Lexington Park, MD— Wrapping Arms Round Many (WARM) is a winter emergency sheltering program for the homeless in St. Maryโs County. The program is in need of volunteers to help with registration and driving the vans. There are more homeless individuals in St. Maryโs County than the shelters can accommodate during the coldest months of the year. So, local churches provide the extra space needed ensuring that men and women have a warm, safe place to sleep, a delicious dinner and nourishing hot breakfast all the while being treated with kindness and respect.
WARM volunteers change the lives of the homeless men and women. With over 50 churches participating and operating in close partnership with the St. Maryโs County (SMC) Department of Aging and Human Services, SMC Department of Social Services, Walden, Three Oaks Center, SMC Sheriffโs Office and MedStar St. Maryโs Hospital the program has been very successful.
WARM is seeking volunteers to assist with registration and driving vans to and from the churches. Registration is held at the Three Oaks Facility in Lexington Park, between 4:45 p.m. to 6 p.m. Registration volunteers are asked to commit to 2 days a month from October 30-April 02. Volunteers must be 16 years of age and over and must have parentโs written consent if under the age of 18.
