A winter weather advisory is in effect until 7 a.m. Friday for St. Maryโ€™s County, Charles County and Calvert County.

In Charles County light snow started falling mid-morning, but less than an inch is expected to accumulate. By the early afternoon, warmer air is expected to change the precipitation to freezing rain. Surfaces are expected to be below freezing until late afternoon. 1/10โ€ to 2/10โ€ of accumulation is anticipated from the freezing rain. The winter mix is expected to continue in Charles until this evening and recent cold weather may mean roads continue to be icy in the evening.

Charles County Public Schools have announced that schools will close two hours early in the county this afternoon. See The Bay Net announcements for further information. ย
