Willard Hilton Carney, Jr., 75, of Great Mills, MD, passed away peacefully at his home on June 21, 2026, with his loving family by his side.

Will was born in Baltimore, MD, to the late Willard Hilton Carney and Lillian Beatrice Hedgecock Carney. He was a 1969 graduate of Pomonkey High School.

On November 18, 1972, he married the love of his life, Mary Alice Burdette, in Indian Head, MD. Together they shared more than 53 wonderful years of marriage. Will was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather, and he cherished every moment spent with his family.

Will worked as a Program Analyst for the federal government and took great pride in his work. Outside of his career, he found joy in the simple things. He was especially proud of his lawn and was known for having one of the best-kept yards in the neighborhood. He also enjoyed fishing, reading, and grilling, and he loved sharing these hobbies with his family and friends.

In addition to his beloved wife, Mary, Will is survived by his children and grandchildren, who will always remember his kindness, steady support, and gentle sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:00 a.m. by Reverend Scott Holmer at Holy Face Church, 20408 Point Lookout Road, Great Mills, MD 20634. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hyland Blvd, Staten Island, NY 10306.
