CALIFORNIA, Md. – A rapidly evolving winter storm is now expected to bring significant snowfall to Southern Maryland this weekend, with forecasters increasing projected totals after new weather data came into stronger agreement.

The storm is forecast to arrive Saturday night and intensify through Sunday, placing the region directly in its path. Current projections call for 4 to 6 inches of snow Saturday night, followed by an additional 7 to 12 inches during the day Sunday, with snow tapering off Sunday evening or early Monday morning.

Meteorologists say the system is likely to produce multiple heavy snow bands, with snowfall rates that could exceed one inch per hour at times, particularly across Southern Maryland. Those heavier bands are expected to be the primary driver of higher totals in the region.

Temperatures are forecast to remain well below freezing throughout the event, with highs only reaching the lower 20s, preventing any melting and allowing snow to accumulate quickly and linger on roadways.

Officials are warning of hazardous travel conditions on Sunday, urging residents to avoid unnecessary travel. Conditions may remain difficult into Monday as plowing and treatment efforts continue, especially on secondary and residential roads.

Residents are encouraged to finalize storm preparations, including securing food, medications, and other essentials. Local stores have already reported increased customer traffic as the weekend storm approaches.

  1. Has anyone thought of unplugging Trump then plugging him back in again?

Oh, and it’s gonna snow around here this weekend.

  2. We already tried that with Biden but he didn’t boot back up.

Snow means no work on Monday
