Antonia Sommerville bomb threat

Lexington Park, MD— On April. 30, Maryland State Police Tfc. Ditoto received a phone call from an employee of a security representative at the Navy Federal Credit Union located in Lexington Park about a bomb threat.

The employee advised that a member of that bank made a bomb threat via telephone. The caller was identified as Antonia J. Sommerville, 33 of Great Mills.

Sommerville was upset because a check she deposited earlier had not yet posted to her account. The bank employee explained that the check might take two business days to clear. Sommerville made the statement, “that if her check was not posted by tomorrow morning, that she was going to blow Navy Federal up,” according to charging documents.

The bank employee told Sommerville that she cannot say things like that. The security representative attempted to contact Sommerville by telephone and was unsuccessful.

Ditoto received a copy of the phone recording from the security representative of the bank. While Ditoto was listening to the recording, “Sommerville did not sound impaired or irate. Sommerville calmly stated that she was going to blow Navy Federal up,” according to charging documents.

Ditoto attempted to make contact with Sommerville at her residence. Sommerville was not there, so Ditoto left her contact information.

Sommerville has been charged with arson/threat. At this time, Sommerville does not have a hearing scheduled.

Sommerville faces a maximum jail sentence of 10 years and or a maximum fine of $10,000.
