Shyann Ringley

Leonardtown, MD — A Lexington Park woman has been sentenced to 10 years in jail for her part in a “crime spree” in northern St. Mary’s County. Shyann Ringley, 22, was sentenced Oct. 27 by St. Mary’s County Circuit Court Judge Karen Abrams suspended 15 years of a 25-year sentence in the 43-count indictment. Ringley pled guilty to eight of the counts, most of which were for First Degree Burglary. Ringley will have to serve a minimum of 54 months before being eligible for parole.

Ringley and her co-defendant Christopher French, 24, also of Lexington Park were arrested on November 1 of last year in connection with multiple burglaries. One of the victims testified at the sentencing hearing that she would like to get back the jewelry that was stolen from her and pleaded with Ringley to cooperate in that effort. The victim looked at Ringley and said, “I don’t feel sorry for you.”

Ringley apologized to Judge Abrams for her behavior. Six of her family members were in court but did not testify at the sentencing hearing.

Deputy State’s Attorney Daniel White said his office is doing everything they can to recover from pawn shops what had been stolen. Judge Abrams urged Ringley to help the victims get their items back. “It is extremely sad for all of the victims,” the judge said.

The judge ordered Ringley to pay $36,389.63 in restitution for the stolen items. Ringley will be on five years’ probation after she is release from jail.

French was previously sentenced to 20 years in jail for his part. He received greater active time because of his criminal record, according to White.
Ringley was represented by attorney Cynthia Panos.
