Waldorf, MD – On Feb. 14 at 2:52 a.m., officers responded to the La Quinta Inn, 11770 Business Park Drive in Waldorf for the report of a stabbing.
Investigation showed the suspect, Channan Leea Nichols, 27, of Silver Spring was attending a large party at the hotel when she began arguing with several partygoers. She entered a room that was not registered to her at which time she produced a knife and stabbed a female in the hand.
According to charging documents, “Nichols advised she was jumped (assaulted). However, she didn’t have any visible injuries.”
Two private security guards, who were hired for the party, were stabbed as they attempted to escort Nichols out of the room.
“At that point, I (Chamblee) learned of a third victim, who had also been stabbed. The victim advised he was a security guard for the party. He advised the defendantย had an altercation approximately twenty minutes before this incident,” according to charging documents.
The victims were transported to area hospitals with injuries that do not appear to be life-threatening. Officers located Nichols on the scene and arrested her.
She was subsequently charged with attempted murder, first-degree assault and second-degree assault. Det. Wimberly is investigating.
Nichols has a tentative preliminary hearing scheduled for March.11 at the Charles County District Court. Nichols faces a maximum jail sentence of life and or a maximum fine of $12,500.ย
The investigating officers, in this case, that prepared the charging documents, were Det.Wimberly and Offr.Chamblee of the Charles County Sheriff’s Office.ย
