Baltimore, MD – On Oct. 13 at approximately 2:13 p.m., police were dispatched to the Johns Hopkins Hospitalโ€˜s Bloomberg building for a reported suicide.

Hospital personnel told police that Christopher Yancey Sr. 33, and Anita Nicole Jones, 30, had been arguing while waiting for a procedure to be completed on their son. Jones emerged from the room informing hospital staff members that Yancey cut himself. Hospital staff members went into the room and discovered Yancey suffering from lacerations to the upper body. Despite the efforts of medical personnel Yancey succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. Jones left the hospital before police arrived.

Homicide detectives were summoned to the hospital and assumed control of the investigation. Detectives learned that Jones and the victim were inside the room alone and no weapons were found at the scene. Also, the victimโ€™s injuries were not consistent with an apparent suicide. Detectives petitioned the courts for an arrest warrant for 30 year-old Anita Nicole Jones.

On Saturday, Oct 14, Jones was apprehended and transported to a central booking intake facility, where she was formally charged with first-degree murder.
