Lexington Park, MD— On April 5, St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Deputy David Potter responded to Valley Court in Leonardtown for the report of a loud argument.ย

Potter contacted the victim who advised he and his live-in girlfriend, who was identified as Christine M. Thurstine, 43, of Lexington Park, were involved in an argument.ย

During the argument, “Thurstineย began to swing a vaporizer smoking device at the victim. The victim held up his arm to block the blows and sustained a small scratch near his elbow,” according to charging documents.ย

Potter observed the scratch was consistent with his description of events. Thurstine was placed under arrest and placed in the rear of ย Potter’s patrol vehicle. Thurstine, “was seat belted in but kept moving around and lifting her feet and kicking the metal and hard plastic cage,” according to charging documents.ย

Thurstine was advised to stop kicking and put her feet down. Thurstine became enraged that the victim was being allowed to stay at her residence and began kicking again. According to charging documents, “This time Thurstine kicked the rear passenger side window shattering it and pushing it out of place.”ย

Christine was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and charged with second-degree assault ย and malicious destruction of property.ย

At this time, Thurstine does not have a scheduled court date. Thurstine faces a maximum jail sentence 10 years and two months and/or a maximum fine of $3,000.ย
