
ST. MARY’S CITY, Md. – The St. Mary’s College of Maryland Women’s Basketball Team (13-8) welcomed the Penn State Berks Nittany Lions (1-18) for Senior Day at Ed Cole Court. The Seahawks cruised to a victory, 80-42.
How It Happened
- The Seahawks opened the game up leading 23-14 after the first quarter. Sam Blaylock connected on two three-pointers and Olivia Liszt added five points as well, while also connecting on a long ball. Tray Mobray, Amira Whitaker, and Melanie Aguilar all chipped in four opening quarter points.
- Defense was the name of the game for St. Mary’s in the second quarter. The Seahawks outscored the Nittany Lions 14-2, holding them to just 7% from the field. Sam Blaylock and Amira Whitaker both contributed three points and Olivia Hedrick closed the half with four straight points to give the Seahawks all the momentum going into the half. St. Mary’s led 37-16
- St. Mary’s kept their foot on the gas coming out of the half. The Seahawks had seven different point scorers and outscored Berks 21-12 in the period. Rayna Miller had a team-high 6 points in the third quarter and Marley Saunders ended the quarter with a bang with a three-pointer to extend the Seahawk lead to over 30.
- The Seahawks used the fourth quarter to put the finishing touches on an 80-42 victory. Olivia Hedrick put together another four-point quarter to give her eight on the day. Sam Blaylock continued to stretch the defense with her three-point shooting ability. Charlotte Donnellan got in on the scoring as well, dropping in a layup.
