On May 5, the Calvert County Sheriffโ€™s Office, supported by Maryland State Police Troopers, Prince Frederick Barrack, conducted a sobriety checkpoint on Plum Point Road (Md. Route 263) near Plum Point Elementary School.

During the sobriety checkpoint, four persons were arrested for DUI. More than 1,000 drivers passed through the โ€œCinco de Mayoโ€ checkpoint between 6:45 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. while the enforcement effort was underway.

Impaired driving enforcement efforts are funded by the Maryland State Highway Administrationโ€™s Highway Safety Office through the Calvert County Traffic Safety Council and will continue throughout the spring and summer months.

This funding will be directed to sobriety checkpoints, saturation patrols and underage drinking enforcement efforts.
