A 12-year-old boy from Benjamin Stoddert Middle School in Waldorf was arrested on Thursday for starting a fire in the school on Feb. 29.

A school employee discovered a fire in a men’s bathroom, that was started using a small pile of combustibles in the middle of the floor.

The case was investigated by the Charles County Sheriff’s Office and the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office, reports John Nelson, Deputy Fire Marshal.

The juvenile was taken into custody without incident Thursday. The school day was not interrupted as a result of the incident.
