2-Year-Old Saved From Near Drowning At Hotel, Airlifted To Children’s Hospital

WALDORF, Md. – A 2-year-old girl was rushed to Children’s National Hospital after nearly drowning at the Holiday Inn Express on Days Court. The incident occurred at approximately 10:25 a.m. on February 24, 2024.

Emergency personnel responded after a 911 caller reported that a child was drowning in the hotel’s pool and not breathing. A bystander performed CPR, successfully reviving the child.

A MEDEVAC was requested for the toddler. Firefighters secured a landing zone at Arthur Middleton Elementary School for the Maryland State Police, Trooper 2, who airlifted the child and her mother to the hospital.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the near-drowning. Updates will be provided as they become available.
